About the club

History

Here’s a short history of the club.

The Huntingdon Bowls Club came into existence from the merger with one the oldest clubs in the area, The Literary Bowls Club, which was founded around 1928 by the members of the Huntingdon Literary and Scientific Institution. They owned what is now The Commemoration Hall. The bowls club bowling green was at the site of what is now the Anglian Water Company.

The literary bowls club was moved to join the St. Peters Municipal Bowls Club around 1975/76. The two clubs became one in 2003 and took over the bowling green from the local council.

Location

The club is located on St Peter’s Road in Huntingdon.  It has access to a large car park, shared with the cricket and tennis clubs.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse has a function area, small bar, home and away or ladies and gents changing rooms and a kitchen.  The function area doubles as the dining room when food is served after the men’s league matches.
