Our club

Welcome to the home of Huntingdon Outdoor Bowls Club.  Our aim is to make this website the hub for all information about the club.  You can find out everything you need to know about membership, teams, fixtures, competition results, league tables and contact details for committee members and team captains.

There is a little bit about the history of the club.  We have been around for a while in one form or other, and now we find ourselves in a nice home that is very easily accessible and has a large car park.    There is more about our history here.  You can also see more about the facilities our clubhouse offers too.

Membership

It would be fair to say that Covid had an adverse effect on the club membership.  In line with lots of other sports clubs, we’re looking for new members as well as old members returning.  As far as new members are concerned we’re offering membership at a vastly reduced rate for the first year.  The definition of new member is someone who has never bowled for this or any other club before.  We hope that wil give enough encouragement to try the sport out, at least for a year. take a look at the membership page for more details.

Competitions and practice sessions

The ladies and the men take part in a number of competitions during the summer months.  It’s always good to test yourself against opposition teams, but we realise that practice makes perfect, especially for the new members.  We will be looking to put together some evening sessions so new members can learn some of the finer points of the game.  It’s not all about getting your wood closest to the jack, though that always helps.  There’s the larger tactical picture to look at too, and that comes via lots of practice and experience.  We hope to see you at the club soon!  If you would like a chat before coming to see us, use the contact form to send us a message.

Private Members’ Area

We have a new Members’ Area where more sensitive club related information lives.  Take a look and see what the committee are doing to keep the club running and growing.  It is a password protected area.  Follow the instructions on the page and we will get your password to you as soon as we can, so long as you are a club member of course.
